An insight into our Home Library service

The North Sydney local government area comprises the following suburbs: Cammeray, Cremorne, Cremorne Point, Crows Nest, Kirribilli, Kurraba Point, Lavender Bay, McMahons Point, Milsons Point, Neutral Bay, North Sydney, Waverton and Wollstonecraft. Stanton Library is the only public library for the area – no branches. As of February 2025, we deliver to 92 individual customers. We deliver on Wednesday mornings and we have four delivery routes. Home Library patrons receive a delivery every 4 weeks.

The Home Library Service team consists of a Team Leader (21 hours) and 2 HLS officers (21 hours and 16 hours) - 18 hours per week from the team are dedicated to front of house. The Home Library Service organises customers into rounds defined by geographic location. Each member of the Home Library team is responsible for the selection and delivery of items. A medical certificate is not required to access the service. We loan regular Print books, Large Print Books, Audio Books, DVDs, CD and Magazines. A shared Library van is used for HLS deliveries – when the van is being used for HLS, we have magnetic Home Library branded signs for each side of the van. Two Home Library staff go out on the delivery every Wednesday morning.

Volunteers – the Home Library Service engaged some volunteers prior to Covid. We are planning on re-instating volunteers this year.
