Discussion of COVID-19 collecting (15 – 20 minutes)

  • what people have collected (formats, volume of items)
  • how they are planning on cataloguing, preserving and making available
  • are there collection plan/policy implications or was this kind of collecting already included?
  • Part 2 50 minutes we may not get through all the planned topics
  • Discussion - How were people collecting ephemera pre-pandemic?
  • Is there local ephemera you can salvage especially about things which won’t be the same (arts events) and cancelled events?
  • Impact of changes to local newspapers – what are the emerging news sources if your newspaper closed/changed format
  • What is the impact of this change to local newspapers on your local studies collecting?
  • Are there any interesting new sources of information which have emerged?
  • What other work are you doing in local studies?
  • Suggested topics for next meeting (in 2021)
