This page is the agenda for the next meeting of the Reader's Advisory Working Group. It will be updated after each meeting so that this page continues to be re-used. Any timings indicated are a rough guide for planning purposes only.

Note all discussions to include non-fiction, across ages, old and new authors as well as making sure inclusive and diverse.

You can see minutes from earlier meetings here. Notices about upcoming meetings, seminars and other business are sent via the State Library NSW PLN and Reference group lists. All NSW public library staff are welcome to subscribe to these lists.

  1. 9.00 - 9.30 Start with chat in small groups -
  2. 9.30 Acknowledgment of Country, participants to add name, library and Traditional Owners in chat
  3. 9.35 indyreads lists. in the future as a special promotion will be a carousel of lists, including libraries’ public lists. Session to include how to create public lists in indyreads.
  4. 9.45 how to edit the wiki
  5. 10.00 Breakout session in small groups - What have you been reading? (Standing item - focus is on how you would help a client - short readers' advisory talk practice, not 'what I loved reading' not the plot, but the emotion and appeal, must be under 1 minute per person)
  6. 10.15 Sharlene Louey (Collections and Contract Management Team Leader, City of Sydney Libraries) talking about Games in Libraries - retro games, appeal characteristics, books about games/including games.   7. 10.40 Breakout session - how are you using games in your library? How are you linking readers' advisory to games?
  8. 11.00 - 11.15 - Break - stand up and stretch
  9. 11.15 Gardening - fiction/non-fiction/cosy mysteries/true crime/ audio while you garden.
  10. 11.35 Breakout session - how do you connect gardening related books across fiction, non-fiction etc? How do you find them? (cataloguing) Plus seed libraries and readers’ advisory - seed and book matching
  11. 11.55 What have you been doing in readers' advisory? Come along ready to share
  12. 12.15 Recruiting new steering committee members (1-2) - they need to help plan meeting, update wiki, and email lists as needed
