This page is the agenda for the next meeting of the Reader's Advisory Working Group. It will be updated after each meeting so that this page continues to be re-used. Any timings indicated are a rough guide for planning purposes only.

Note all discussions to include non-fiction, across ages, old and new authors as well as making sure inclusive and diverse.

You can see minutes from earlier meetings here. Notices about upcoming meetings, seminars and other business are sent via the State Library NSW PLN and Reference group lists. All NSW public library staff are welcome to subscribe to these lists.

Library Show and Tell for our 15 November 2022 Readers’ Advisory Meeting

Join us Tuesday, 15 November from 10:00am-12:00pm to show off what your library is doing, what’s working for you, and to get ideas and inspiration from others! We’ll talk about Book Kits, library displays, pamphlets/posters, social media, bookmarks, and more. With themed breakout rooms for chatting, resource sharing, and a special library trivia.

Get your book bags and reader’s advisory tools together for this special Show and Tell Readers’ Advisory. Anyone who is doing great things in readers’ advisory in their library, please email laurenw@kiama.nsw.gov.au to reserve a spot to share your inspiration.

Theme - RA Show & Tell!

  • Intro and Acknowledgement of Country
  • General summary of how the show and tell will work (managed by Lauren, including introductions in-between)
  • 10 presenters in 5 minute blocks (working group members please put up your hands)

Lauren Watkins - Kiama (social media, podcasting, physical resources)

Aaron Wilkes - Richmond Valley (physical resources)

Ita Hanssens - Tamworth (book group kits)

  • 20 minutes of other libraries showing what they have and what they do with RA (Yasmin Greenhalgh - North Sydney)
  • Breakout rooms for 20 minutes:

Breakout room #1 - general discussion (managed by Ellen?) about various readers advisory topics (including ideas shared today, book suggestions, promo ideas, practical aspects of RA, up-skilling)

Breakout room #2 - chat/whiteboard function (managed by Ita or Yasmin?) to share readers advisory resources that have been helpful to you

Breakout room #3 - trivia (managed by Rachel?)
