Welcome Barbara Todes, Manager of Randwick Library, welcomed everyone to the Library.
Celebration – 27th Birthday Party Members celebrated the 27th birthday of the Group and enjoyed the multicultural food and the huge birthday cake. The Birthday gift One hundred and fifteen dollars were collected at Party. The $150 will be invest in a community /charity gift and report back to next meeting
Minutes of Previous meeting The minutes were accepted by Shauna Miller and seconded by Victoria Scarf.
Matters Arising
Living Library Promotional Banner Oriana would follow it up with the National Library.
Library Promotion Banner Review Jacinta Craine emailed the members the link of the draft version of the survey (Surveymonkey) a few days before the meeting. There were 10 questions in the survey as Surveymonkey only allowed 10 free questions. Any comments should be sent to Jacinta. She will report it in the next meeting.
History of the Working Group Project The matter would be further discussed in the next meeting in August.
Travelling Exhibition Update Wendy Ford briefly reported about the costing of the Exhibition. The matter would be further discussed in the next meeting in August.
Mylanguage National Conference 2010 Update Oriana reminded that the early bird registration for the Conference would be finished by 31 June 2010.
Multicultural Health Week 26 July Jess Halaratne and Angharad White from Multicultural Communication introduced their services and resources for the Multicultural Health Week starting on 26 July. The Group also suggested if the Multicultural Communication and the Group would help each other to promote the multicultural health services. Mirjana Djukic worked out a sentence to suggest to the Communication to see if they could include it (in different languages) in their promotion materials and their webpage http://www.mhcs.health.nsw.gov.au/ publicationsandresources/languages.asp “For more information on this and other health topics in your language visit your local library.” In return, it was suggested to put the Multicultural health Communication Service (MHCS) page in their Health resources or Multicultural resources links or both on MyLanguage webpage if it was not yet on it.

Multicultural Health Subset Collection in SLNSW Oriana reported that they would group their materials on health in different languages. If the numbers of the items in each language was substantial, the State could loan them out in theme to libraries including a banner that promote this collection.
Report on Cooperative Cataloguing Alison Watson from Zenith prepared a report and distributed it to the members. To improve their service, they would catalogue the titles selected before receiving the actual items in the next financial year. Any suggestions on their service improve should be sent to Shauna.
Bulk Loan Update The State Library is in the process of transferring the Bulk loans team from Access and Information to Public Libraries and Community Learning Division New team on bulk loan will be recruit internally and will be headed by Oriana. Oriana and Shauna have already moved into the new Multicultural Unit at the State Library.
Selection Meeting 2010 Update The selection meeting for Chinese language materials would be changed from 12 to Friday 13 August. Serbian language materials would also be available in the selection meeting held on 2 August.
Local Multicultural Supplier List The local multicultural supplier list is available on the web www.plmnsw.org.au. Go to “Meetings, Working Groups and Events”, then “Multicultural Library Services Working Group” and then “LOTE Suppliers Directory July 2010”.
