Matters Arising
“Bibliometro” Libraries Chile Angela Salazar Duran, Coordinator Bibliometro Libraries Program in Chile, came to introduce the Bibliometro Libraries in Chile. The program commenced in 1995. 16 stations, of Metro de Santiago have joined the program. Details of the program can be found in the website, www.bibliometro.cl .
Legal Information Access Centre (LIAC) Jeanell Buckley from LIAC, State Library of NSW, introduced the legal services and resources available in LIAC. Useful legal brochures and guides by topics are available on web www.liac.sl.nsw.gov.au (Find Legal answers). Some guides and brochures are also available in audio format and some community languages. It is suggested to ask the DVD producers to inform the libraries whenever they have new titles available.
China Books Georgina Black, from China Books, introduced their services, including cataloguing service. She also suggested libraries to pre-select titles from their lists before the selection meeting in order to speed up the ordering time.
Shauna reported that it would take about 12 weeks for the suppliers to send the items to the State Library of NSW and take another 7 weeks for Zenith to do the cataloguing.
View of new website Metropolitan Libraries The website of the Metropolitan Libraries has been redesigned (http://www.plmnsw.org.au). The agenda and minutes of the Working Group Meeting are put on the website. Banners for loan can also be found on the website.
Review of Mylanguage website Oriana distributed a sheet of suggested changes of the Mylanuguage website. Any comments can be sent to Oriana by Friday 29 May 2009.
Updating of the IFLA 2010 Satellite Conference Volunteers for the Conference are needed. Please contact Oriana if you are interested in it.

Planning on the reception, entertainment, bus trips, sponsors seeking, paper calling and etc are in process. Any suggestion and ideas can be sent to Jane or Oriana.
Spanish purchasing 2009/10 As there are not many options of Spanish titles provided by local suppliers, Oriana and Shauna suggested purchasing Spanish titles from overseas suppliers. Oriana has found a supplier in Argentina which offers competitive price. Purchasing titles cooperatively from this supplier is proposed. Oriana can help to choose titles (focus on fiction) on behalf of the committed libraries. She will send an invitation letter to those libraries which has the Spanish language collection.
Palestinian Refugees – San Felipe - Donation The Palestinian refugees in San Felipe, a small city in Chile, need books and AV materials in Arabic and Chinese. If your library wants to donate materials to them, please contact Oriana.
EOI’s as a “selector” at the forthcoming Selection Meetings Shauna reported that 2 official selectors and 2 helpers/followers for each language will be arranged in the forthcoming selection meetings. Official selectors in different gender and generation would be arranged if possible. Choosing materials evenly from different suppliers were also suggested. Shauna will send a copy of the Zenith report and other necessary information to libraries.
Chinese cataloguing done by ASEAN Shauna asked for comment and feedback on the quality of the cataloguing of Chinese materials done by ASEAN. In general, three libraries thought that ASEAN has been improving its cataloguing quality and they are satisfied with its services. Members agreed to support small suppliers.
