This is a agreement in progress and will be officially announced by the State Library

Marketing Committee Sub Committee The sub-committee has been meeting regularly between the quarterly meetings. The group will be submitting a grant application for $100,000 to cover billboards at railways stations, and advertising on buses throughout the Sydney metropolitan area with the message “YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARY WELCOMES YOU” in Arabic, Hindi, Somali, Burmese, Urdu and Punjabi. The words on the poster will be READ< LEARN> CONNECT< PLAY> ENJOY< RELAX. Anne Hall has agreed to manage the grant. A commitment from all libraries will be sort.

Marketing poster design Anne Hall managed the group into teams to work on ideas for the poster. Several fantastic ideas flowed from this exercise including • having a google map as the background • including library app and QR code on the poster • having images representing each of the words and then the slogan in other languages above each image and set inside the map • having every library pinpointed on the google map

Proposals from Literacy Working group Two proposals came from the Literacy working group who also meet quarterly. Proposal one was the idea of meeting at the same library on the same day each quarter – Multicultural in the morning and Literacy in the afternoon. Proposal two was that on one of these meetings – preference for the August meeting – be held as a joint meeting with suitable speaker for both groups. It was felt this could benefit both working groups.

Both proposals were agreed upon by the Multicultural working group. It was proposed that Wendy Ford take the approval to the Literacy group’s August meeting to confirm dates for next year. The 3 libraries to agree to the meetings would need to have a venue available all day, and the library hosting the August meeting, would need to have a venue capable of holding the joint group.

The combined group meetings would commence in 2013.

Gambling DVD Will be distributed by the NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service.

2012 selection days- self selection Oriana reminded those involved of their responsibilities regarding self selection in particular regarding the management of their budget.

Next Meeting: Thursday 16th August at Fairfield Library 9.30 for 10am
