Grant Application - Noel Willis

One of the strategies of the working group was to obtain grant funding for a renewed multilingual marketing campaign in 2013. To this end, Fairfield City Library will submit a Library Development Grant application which is due on the 23rd of November 2012. The main target of this campaign will be on recently arrived migrant communities such as those from Iran, Afghanistan, Africa, Sri Lanka and others. The proposed medium to be used is billboards at key railway stations over a four week period, which with other collateral such as posters, banners, digital signage etc would extend the life of the campaign. The amount requested is $41,750.00 This is a cooperative application and all Sydney public libraries will be invited to participate in the planning and execution of the campaign, assuming that the funding application is successful.

Abby Dawson, Coordinator Multicultural Bulk Loan report

The Bulk Loan Service is going well. It is on target to issue approximately 5000 more items than last year. There has been a recent promotion of less requested languages using the CRC e-link. These languages include, Kurdish, Slovenian, Burmese, Romanian, Bulgarian, and Ukrainian. Usage of Kurdish is particularly very low this year with only one request received. This collection may be removed from the State Library's collection and offered to Auburn Library or a suitable community group. Abby also spoke about the possibility that bulk loans could contain more than 20 books in collections large enough to accommodate that. Abby will email libraries for their feedback on this proposal.
