State wide sessions for Reference excellence training
Reference Excellence is self paced reference and information services training. It can be used as refresher training. It is designed to help public library staff provide excellent reference and information service training without individual libraries having to develop their own training. It is on the NSW public library wiki. During 2022 and 2023 we will be providing online discussion sessions about each of these modules.
You can participate in this training at any time, however, if you would like to work through this with public library staff across NSW, we have a plan for you. It involves:
- 14 one-hour sessions over two years
- You can participate in one or as many as you like
- Zoom bookings via a page on the wiki
- It will be on the last Wednesday of each month 2.00 – 3.00
- Each of the sessions will discuss the key points from each module, and any questions/comments people have
* If people are participating in the ALIA CPD scheme each hour can be counted as 1.00 CPD hour
The first session provides an introduction, so come along to that session to find out more about reference excellence and how your library may want to participate.
Staff from Public Library Services will lead the discussions.
Before each of the sessions, except the first one, you need to work through the listed module so you can discuss what you have learned and the exercises with Public Library Services staff and other NSW public library participants. These sessions will not be recorded.
There is already a survey for each module of Reference excellence. We will add a short survey for the online sessions as well.
