2.05pm Bill Wilkie Librarian and author of The Daintree Blockade: the battle for Australia’s tropical rainforest, (2017). Bill is based in Mossman and works part-time with Douglas Libraries in far north Queensland since 2006. His research received the Queensland Premier's Award in 2017 for a work of State significance. https://www.daintreeblockade.com.au/

2.40pm Dr Farley Connelly Dr Farley Connelly is a Wildlife Ecologist with EnviroDNA His work focuses on the use of environmental DNA or eDNA to detect the presence of species from samples in the environment including the iconic platypus. This innovative new technology allows scientists to detect a slough of species from a single water sample and has been shown to outperform traditional methods such as sight or live capture based surveys. In his talk he will explain what eDNA is, discuss some projects he has conducted using eDNA, and detail how citizen scientists can take part in eDNA studies.
