It is estimated that by 2058 there will be more than 1 million sufferers. It is the second leading cause of death in Australia and this will impact on the Australian healthcare system. Currently 30% of CALD adults are underrepresented in dementia research so the CHeBA is looking at trying to recruit volunteers from the CALD community to take part in this research. It will involve volunteers doing a short 15 minute survey. This IFLA Section works to promote best practice in delivering library services and collections to cultural and linguistic minorities. Oriana recommended that people join as members and get involved. For more information go to: https://www.ifla.org/units/mcultp/ ALIA Multicultural Group- Oriana Oriana reported that ALIA will be establishing the Multicultural Working Group in November. The aim of the group is to cover all library staff including public, university, special libraries etc. **State Library Marketing revamp- Abby** Abby is overseeing the revamp of the bookmarks and signage produced for multicultural services by the SLNSW. Please email Abby with any feedback, suggestions, or comments. Do libraries still use banners? We could design new banners if required this would include changing the current colour scheme of yellow to another suitable colour and ensuring all signage is bilingual. **Indyreads- Abby** There is a collection of over 200 titles in German available on Indyreads. Other languages are available such as Spanish but to date there aren’t many titles available in languages such as Arabic, Greek and Hindi. **Other Business** • The Multicultural Engagement Conference will be held on the 27th of October at Parramatta. • **Multicultural Excellence Awards.** Entries for these awards will open shortly. Winners will be announced at the Switch Conference in November. • **Spotlight on libraries** – Ryde is considering hosting the next Spotlight session. In October Mary Gissing, Newcastle Library, will be hosting the next session. Next meeting will be held on site at the SLNSW, 24th of November
