====== Marketing and Programs Working Group Meeting ====== Wednesday 2 March 2019 Oran Park Library, Camden Libraries Attendance: **Presentations** **Oran Park Library**. Oran Park is part of the Camden LGA, the fastest growing LGA in Australia. Brewster Hjorth Architects. Opened in June 2018. 2,500m2 total with 1150m2 library space at $16 million budget. The library is people centric and focuses on programs not collections. Camden Library presentation can be viewed here {{ :oran_park_library_programming_4.pptx |}} Some elements of the library include: * 3 staff per shift 4 hours and rotate regularly * No Physical Desk, staff have a roving service with iPads and communicate with each other via iMessage * No drop out zones for WIFI, they have multiple points * Apple TV, Interactive Wall, 3D Printer, interactive local heritage table * Cashless - everything is through the Kiosks * Increase in usage by 0-12 year olds * Tour of the library was given at the end of the meeting * Planning a seed library in future and gardening workshops * Garage door in the children's area will open out onto a synthetic grass area for activities **Penrith Library** A presentation was given by Michelle Pearman, Inclusion Officer for Penrith Libraries on the award winning Inclusion program. The presentation can be viewed: {{ :penrith_library_presentation_-_inclusion_program.pptx |}} **Publishers Forum** Last year the Group co-hosted a Publishers Forum with Librarians Choice at Green Square Library. Librarians Choice has wound down now and the Group has decided to take it on as a project. Melanie Mutch from Hornsby will be leading this, if anyone wants to help out please get in contact with her. **Joint Meeting with Reference Group** It was agreed that the next Marketing and Programs Group meeting would be a joint meeting with the Reference Group on August 7 at Blacktown Library **Round Table** **Wollongong** * Holding Pride Month activities again * Comic Gong * Finding that Panels are working well * Partnering with the Disability Trust to do panel talks re people with disabilities who identify as LBGTI+ * Queer Stories - facilitated talks with podcast * Book Bites - lunchtime activity where people can read pages from a book * Small Talk - Monthly program where 3 speakers talk for 20 minutes each on topics that they want **Georges River** * Philosophy Talks with Professor from USYD * Living Library - 3 presenters * Pride Month * Panel discussions also working well for NAIDOC and Refugee Wekk * Science Talks **Liverpool** * Creating partnerships to run programs who do it better than the library * Moon Landing collection * Harmony Day - interactive art work. Workshops were help with the community at the Powerhouse and then panels installed at Library. Launched with panel discussion and performances * 1:1 Tech Help - Assistive Technology Centre being created with electric desk and high contrast keyboards * Accessible Collection * Children's Services Unite have helped renovate the Children's Library from an Early Educators point of view * Library staff undertaking Design Thinking training and will lead Council * Library involved in Smart City Strategy and through this have been invited to talk a the Emerging Leaders Forum with WSU * Have been doing a lot of internal marketing. **Ryde** * Now have an Adults and Kids marketing brochure * Banjo the Bandicoot Library Mascot being launched with a Where's banjo activity * Possum Pouches knitting program **Fairfield** * Studio space going well. * Looking at creating content that can go straight into the catalogue * Artistic programming and small business workshops * Looking at using diverse staff for programs **Lithgow** * Ukulele Group going very well between 40-50 participants * Tarot, table top gamming * Creative writing Group * Maths 4 Fun * Try anything once **Canterbury/Bankstown** * Sustainability talks - native plants * Panel for Seniors Week * eCommission focus group on developing programs for seniors * Yoga/meditation/wellness talks * Using volunteers to deliver programs * Be Healthy and Active talks * Guided tours of Bankstown Library * Outreach visits to playgroups * Be Connected Intergenerational Tech Help **Penrith** * HSC Lectures * SWF - Stephen Carroll * Science Week - Gut Health and NDIS Lawyers * resume writing/interview workshops * Tech Savvy Seniors * Write your own Memoir * Tech Help Desk 10am-12pm Mon-Sun - guide individuals through tech * Pop Up Library * Harmony Day and NAIDOC week * Dungeons and Dragons very popular **Ku-ring-gai** * Library Bus 30th anniversary * Tell your stories **Hawkesbury** * Moving to new LMS and RFID * Working with Waste Education Officer for workshops * War on Waste Festival - Boomerang Bay workshop. Documentary showing. * SWF - Mathew Condon and Tom Keneally * Tech Savvy Seniors and Tech Help **Port Macquarie** * Library has left the building - outreach program * Changing focus to partnerships * 10 Street Library Kits for the community working with the community college * Local Talks - 10 minutes each **Cumberland** * Form Filling Service with TAFE * Streamlining programs across 8 branches * community Reading week * Quiet Hours in the Library for people with Autism * reading Buddies - volunteer help with reading with rewards after school **Campbelltown** * Launched Sponsorship and Partnership Prospectus to seek sponsorship for programs, events and technology * Launched new LBGTI+ collection and libraries are now part of ACON's Welcome Here network * ArtLib - Artists giving talks in the Library * Renovating main branch introducing RFID and creating a reading space * Game of Thrones Trivia night
